In 1980, a group of Philadelphia health and social justice activists came together over concerns about the well-being of pregnant people and infants. They created Maternity Care Coalition (MCC) and advocated for change with policymakers and decision makers.
Today, we continue to center children and their families by supporting, referring, educating, researching, and advocating. -

Birthing Advocacy Doula Trainings (BADT) is a socially conscious, culturally appropriate, diverse, and action-oriented doula training organization. We not only train our students to serve their clients using the best practices available, we also include a deep understanding of disparities, inequalities, policies, rights, and the necessary steps to be a partner in the movement to change the current birth environment locally, nationally and globally.

PhillyCAN
The Maternal and Infant Health Community Action Network (CAN) is a broad coalition of Community partners focused on reducing infant mortality in Philadelphia and increasing their health and the health of their families. The infant mortality rate in Philadelphia is 1.5 times higher than the national average with communities of color experiencing even larger disparities. The CAN was created to collaboratively develop solutions to tackle this issue. The members of the CAN recognized that the Philadelphia infant mortality rate can only be addressed by fostering a learning community within the CAN and coordinating cross-sector actions.

Kindred Spirits Midwifery
Our homebirth package includes your prenatal care, on-call access to us starting at 37 weeks gestation, our hands-on support at your birth from the time you call us (usually when you have begun active labor) to the immediate postpartum (about 2-4 hours post birth) and your postpartum care (6-8 weeks post birth)
We offer a combination of both virtual and in-person prenatal visits. In-person visits will take place in one of our offices (Fishtown or Bryn Mawr) or your home.

As a Philadelphia resident, you can now get the help you need during pregnancy and beyond, from the comfort and safety of home. The Philadelphia Department of Public Health has partnered with Pacify to provide access to virtual breastfeeding and infant feeding support for all new and expecting parents, at no cost to you.

Beds for Kids Program
One House at a Time (OHAAT) is a volunteer-driven, nonprofit organization that is working to end child bedlessness through a program called Beds for Kids. Over the last 16 years, Beds for Kids has provided beds and bedding for 7,500+ children and youth in Greater Philadelphia. Recipients are referred to the program by organizations that serve low-income families (e.g. human service agencies, hospitals, schools, etc.). These Referral Partners are essential to the program’s success because they provide targeted outreach through interviews and home visits.

Philadelphia Diaper Bank
We collect baby and adult diapers and menstrual products donated to us from generous donors. We take monetary donations and purchase diapers and menstrual products in bulk at ⅓ of the cost of retail. We work with over 50 community partnerships to distribute diapers and menstrual products to families across the city.
